Morgan's making a list

Morgan is making her Christmas list for Santa. She wrote down that she wants a bear purse, a princess doll, a princess tea party, and toys. Then she realized that there were a lot of lines left on the paper to write things on. She couldn't think of anything else she wanted, so she decided to write down what other people want. So if you can't decide what you want for Christmas, here you go:
Uncle Seth would like a new gate for his yard.
Aunt Emily would like a ballerina toy.
Uncle Peter would like a checklist, just like the one Morgan was writing!
Grandpa would like a new Batman toothbrush.
Uncle Joe would like a Superman toy for his brother.

Mind you, I did not help her with this at all. I did not give her names or ideas or anything. Adorable.

Gingerbread & Candy

Friday the kids were having a rough day. We were supposed to have friends come and play, so we got all ready first thing in the morning and cleaned the house. Then the friends' mom called to say they couldn't come, and I was left with 3 broken little hearts. So I decided it was time to make the gingerbread house from the kit I had bought at Smith's a couple of days before.
Elle wanted to put every single piece of candy on the house herself, Miles wanted to eat every single piece of candy himself, and Morgan was adamant about the house looking exactly like the house in the picture. I also gave them each a single cookie to decorate while the frosting holding the house together set for 10 minutes. Morgan got a Christmas tree, Elle got a gingerbread girl, and Miles got a snowman. Elle decorated hers and ate it at the same time. Miles would put a candy on and immediately take it off again to eat it; then he ate his entire cookie in two ginormous bites. Morgan spent the entire 10 minutes making sure her tree was decorated exactly like the picture. Quite a few tears were shed, mostly by Miles when I told him he had had enough candy, but all in all I think it was a fun holiday activity!

I Pledge Allegiance...

Matt and I were asking Morgan about school the other day, if she had fun, who were her friends, was she a helper that day. She said yes, she was a helper, she was the flag holder. I asked her what the flag holder does, and she told me they hold the flag while the class says the Pledge of Allegiance. Now Morgan's preschool starts 10 minutes later than the rest of the school, so I know the Pledge is said during the morning announcements before Morgan even goes inside. I just assumed that their class didn't do the Pledge because the rest of the school does it before Morgan's class starts. But apparently they do it every day and she knows it by heart! I had no idea!!

Fam Photos

My mom bought us a photo session as an early Christmas. We got our pics taken two weeks ago, and I got the pictures back today so I wanted to post some. It was so hard to choose my favorites, they all look so good, but here are a few for you to oogle at! I will put more up on myspace, so look for them there if you are dying to see more.

It's Been a While

It has definitely been a while since I updated this thing. What with moving and all, I have been terribly busy and have not found much time for anything besides unpacking, cleaning, and kids. I don't really feel like back-blogging everything that has happened since my last post, so for those of you who missed some things, you can just call me later.
Obviously we are in the new house now and we love it. It is definitely our dream home. There are a few minor issues, as with any new house, but they are getting resolved slowly but surely. Miles is in a twin bed, and hopes to buy some boy bedding soon, as now he is sleeping with Elle's old quilt. Other than that, we are pretty well settled in.
Morgan learned about Thanksgiving today at preschool. They made turkeys and on each of the feathers they wrote something they are thankful for. Morgan is thankful for babies, cars, and Dad. What a silly girl! She is growing up way too fast for me lately.

Morgan...all grown up

Here is Morgan's school picture. I think she looks way too grown up, but beautiful. If you would like a picture, let me know what size.

Arrrgh!

We had Elle and Owen's birthday party on Saturday. It was a pirate party. The kids went on a treasure hunt, dressed up with eye patches and hooks, ate cake and ice cream, and played really hard! I think everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone who came and thank you for t
he presents- Elle has not stopped playing since!

Wall-e

I finally finished Elle's Halloween costume. She wanted to be Wall-e, but Matt and I didn't like how big the costumes looked on the kids in the catalog. So we decided to make our own. To be honest, I was pretty sure that even after I had spent over a week making it that I would hate it and end up buying one anyway. As it turns out, I absolutely love it! I had so much fun making it and I think it turned out awesome. The eyes will be attached to a black beanie and she will also wear a black turtle neck and black leggings. There are holes cut out for her arms and head. I will try to get a picture of her in it today.

And it's...a new car!!

Just a quick pic of my new car! Matt picked it up for me last night. I have only had two occasions to drive it so far, but I love it. It is the biggest car I can imagine, and despite Matt's insistence, I refuse to believe that it will fit in a parking space.

3 Years Old

Elle had her third birthday yesterday. (It is hard to think that I am getting that old!!) We are having a big combined birthday party this Saturday with Owen, but we did a little family party the night before her birthday. I took Morgan to the dollar store and let her pick out her own present for Elle. Then when we came back, she helped me hang streamers, tie the balloon to Elle's chair, wrap presents, and decorate the cake all while the other two kids were napping. She is a big helper.
Elle was really excited to wake up to a birthday party! After dinner we opened presents and Elle stuck her tongue out most of the time in deep concentration. Then she blew out her candle and we had cake. It was awesome!

Ghost Bunny

Elle has had a slight diaper rash this week and has been adamant about getting the powder for me when change her and then putting it away when we are done. I was just marveling at how good she is to handle the baby powder several times a day and not mess with it. Then, two days ago....

Elle and Morgan decided that indeed it would be fun to play with baby powder. They dumped it on their beds, on the floor, and into the toy box! Elle was white from head to toe. I asked Elle why she did that, and she told me she wanted to be Ghost Bunny! (Ghost Bunny is from Max & Ruby, for those of you who watch cartoons with your kids!!) It took a lot of cleaning, especially because I had to clean every single toy in the toy box, but we eventually got things put back together!!!

And Life Goes On...

It has been 3 days since the accident, and we are all still alive. The kids seem a little stiff, but it's nothing that has stopped them from running amok around the house. So they are fine. I am finally starting to feel better. Don't get me wrong, I still hurt pretty badly, but I am not as stiff today, and that is helping. I can't really turn my head very well without it causing sharp pain, so I am not driving around unless I have too.
The insurance finally got back to us and my car is definitely totaled. In fact, the damage is almost twice the dollar amount that my car is valued at! So, now I get to go buy a new car! Matt keeps telling me that I am the most spoiled person he knows...getting a new house and a new car at the same time!!
For those of you who know what happened with Morgan at school, a letter will be sent out within the next week or two to parents district wide. We are going to get to approve the final draft before it goes out. Once that is done, I will feel good again about the school system.
We are so thankful everything turned out ok and are glad that life is getting back to normal. Thank you so much to everyone that has called to check on us and offered to help. We love you all.

We Survived

As most of you know by now, Elle, Miles and I were in a car accident yesterday. At noon, the kids and I were headed to pick up Morgan from preschool. About a block away from the school, we were heading through an intersection during a green light when a guy, speeding, ran the red light and broadsided us. He hit my car on the back passenger side. Our car then rolled onto the driver's side and we skidded on the side of the car. The force of the side of the car hitting the pavement forced my side-view mirror through my window, breaking the glass. We skidded through the intersection until my car finally rolled right side up again, landing on its wheels.
Elle and Miles were both extremely scared, but otherwise seem to be unharmed. We took them to their pediatrician a few hours later and they checked out just fine. They are a little cranky today, so I assume they probably have a few aches and pains, though. I had about a million x-rays done at the ER, but have escaped without a single broken bone. The doctor worries about a rotator cuff injury, whiplash, and soft-tissue damage. He recommends I get physical therapy.
We went and looked at the car today and got some pictures. After seeing the damage, it is a miracle we all survived without a single scrape or scratch. The whole driver's side of the car is full of scrapes where we skidded on our side, and we are positive that it totaled my car.
So all in all a really bad day. But I have never felt so blessed. I know that a car accident with the kids in the car is on the top three scariest things that could happen list of every parent. And we all survived, the kids unharmed. So obviously someone is looking out for us.

Oh, and Morgan asked me to please tell everyone that she has a brand new seat belt, and for everyone to please not run into other cars anymore!!

A Girl of Many...Shirts?!

Ever since Elle finally realized that she can reach her shirts in the closet at any time, she has been dressing herself. Every time I'm not paying close enough attention to her, I will finally notice that she looks little...puffy. I will go over to her to get a closer look and realize that she has on at least 5 shirts! She looks adorable with her stylish layering, but I am getting really tired of doing so much laundry!!

New House!!!

Matt and I are buying a new house! It is right down the street from where we are now, just behind Cafe Rio. We are having them finish one more room in the basement, and then it is ready to move in. I am putting up a link with a couple of pictures of the hosue. It comes fully furnished upstairs, so everything you see in the pictures will be ours! We will close October 15th. We are so excited!!

New Shirts!!

I got the kids some new shirts at Walmart last night. Elle's has Walle and Morgan's has Eva. Miles just got a generic shirt. But I thought they all looked so cute this morning that I wanted to post some pictures!!

First Day of School

Morgan had her first day of preschool yesterday. It was an open house, so Matt got to go with her. She was so excited to have Daddy with her at school. She looked so grown up, my heart ached a little. Elle cried so hard when Morgan left...she wants so bad to go to school too!! Matt said Morgan was pretty shy for the first 45 minutes, but once she warmed up, she was talking to the other kids and playing. She even brought home an art project!!

Hairstyles & Magazines

I have been looking at blogs about different hairstyles for little girls and decided to try one the other day. It wasn't the best job I have ever seen, but it was a start! Morgan was pretty sure she had a princess hairstyle that day!

Later that day, Morgan came running downstairs and told me ,"Mommy! You have to come see this!" She grabbed my hand and ran me upstairs to her room. She had taken every toy out of her toy box and closet and displayed them around the room. They were lined up on toy boxes and shelves and beds. I asked what it was, and she told me she had made magazines! I don't think she really knows what a magazine is, but it was really cute!

Disaster Girl Strikes Again

So Elle's villainous evil streak continues. This time she has incorporated an evil intern sidekick. Her latest evil plot is to sneak Miles into the bathroom while no one is looking. Then they take turns tearing off toilet paper and dipping it into the toilet water. The strips are then laid on top of Miles head. By the time my superhero senses come into play and I realize something is amiss, Miles is usually soaked from the waste up with toilet water (clean, mind you, but still disgusting!) is dripping all over his face.
Will Disaster Girl ever be stopped? Is there any force on this Earth that can stand up to such an evil mastermind? Only time will tell.

What is with this boy??

Yet again, Miles has fallen asleep. This time, he did so in mid play. He was running races with the girls in the living room. They like to start at the bottom of the stairs and run full speed across the room, where the dive into and crash on the couch. I was doing dishes when I noticed it was just the tiniest bit too quiet. I looked up and found Miles had dashed across the room and crashed on the couch...and fell asleep! What am I going to do with him?!

Tuckered out

Any of you who have seen how upset Miles can get if you don't give him food the very second he sees it, or have seen how his tummy has been known to pop the button on his shorts knows how obvious it is that we never feed this poor little guy. So yesterday I decided to give him a granola bar and he was so excited to finally have some food that he tuckered himself right out. He didn't even have the energy to take the granola bar out of his mouth first!

An Attempted Park Run

The kids were bugging me all morning to go play outside. I was trying really hard to get the house clean because I have a babysitter coming tomorrow. After a while, I decided it might not be so bad to attempt to run to the park for a little bit. So right after lunch we got our shoes on and walked over to the park. The girls ran a little ahead of me, and Miles kicked and screamed the whole way there. He really wanted to run with the girls, but he refuses to hold my hand and insists on running into the street at every opportunity. So we finally get there, and the family playing there has their two pit bulls tied up at the bottom of the stairs on the playground. Was I going to let my kids run around by two unknown dogs? Absolutely not. I said quite loudly that they could not play on the playground while two dogs we didn't know were tied up there, and I know the family heard me, but they made no movement at all to take the dogs away. So I made the kids settle for running in the field. They were not extremely happy with me, but they know enough to take what they can get. So the girls raced each other back and forth across the field, and Miles spent the whole time trying to run away from me! The good news is they were all asleep within 5 minutes of getting home, which makes it worth all the trouble in the world to me!!

Here we go again!

So after Morgan dug through my bathroom drawers until she found scissors and cut some bangs during nap time last week, she has been banned from my room. Today, I made sure she knew not to go in my bathroom unless she needed to go potty. And even then she was NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING!!! Well, she did not listen to me. Trust me, it is worse than it looks in this picture! I must have caught a good angle of light or something because in real life, she looks about 3 times worse! I was laughing so hard when I saw her, it was really hard to get any serious words of scolding out!!

A Strong Father

Lately, ever morning when Matt gets ready to head out the door to go to work, Elle breaks down in tears. She runs over to him, giant tears rolling down her cheeks, and latches onto his leg. She looks up at him with the biggest eyes imaginable and says, "Daddy, I don't want you to go! I want you to just stay here with me!" It is enough to bring a few drops of moisture to even my eyes! And yet, Matt just hugs her tight and promises he will play with her the second he gets home. He smiles at her and walks out the door. I am amazed that he is strong enough to do so. Good job being strong, Daddycakes!!!

Disaster Girl

THE SCENE OF THE CRIME:

THE CRIME:

THE CULPRIT:

(Super Villain Elle - aka: Disaster Girl)

From the time she learned how to move, we have nicknamed Elle - Disaster Girl. You know, just in case she ever became a super villain and needed a good name! That's right! She is too much trouble to ever be a super hero! This is what I mean:

I went downstairs to email my aunt and let her know I would not be able to make it to my cousin's wedding this weekend. The email was only 3 or 4 lines long, so it took almost no time at all. When I returned upstairs, the kids were no longer sitting on the couch watching their movie- always a cause for suspicion. Suddenly, Elle ran up to me with the biggest smile on her face and announced that she "ate the butter all gone in (her) tummy!" In the time it took me to write one email, Elle managed to eat over half of a stick of butter! Just goes to show you how quickly this little super-villain can get into trouble. She got a short lecture and a minute in time-out. The world is safe and free from her chaos again...at least for now.

All grown up

Last night I found a bargain at Target. For $8 you can get a second rod for the closet that hangs below your clothes rod. It is supposed to give you twice the hanging room in your closet, but it also means that Morgan can reach her own shirts and get dressed all by herself now. I hung it up this morning and moved all of her shirts down. She not only dressed herself, in a coordinating outfit nonetheless, but she also dressed Elle - who is not so coordinating!

Later, Morgan was sitting on the floor by the piano hard at work with something in her lap. A few minutes later she jumps up and runs over to me, face beaming! "Mom! Look! I tied Daddy's shoes!" Oh, how fast they grow up!
