Disaster Girl

THE SCENE OF THE CRIME:

THE CRIME:

THE CULPRIT:

(Super Villain Elle - aka: Disaster Girl)

From the time she learned how to move, we have nicknamed Elle - Disaster Girl. You know, just in case she ever became a super villain and needed a good name! That's right! She is too much trouble to ever be a super hero! This is what I mean:

I went downstairs to email my aunt and let her know I would not be able to make it to my cousin's wedding this weekend. The email was only 3 or 4 lines long, so it took almost no time at all. When I returned upstairs, the kids were no longer sitting on the couch watching their movie- always a cause for suspicion. Suddenly, Elle ran up to me with the biggest smile on her face and announced that she "ate the butter all gone in (her) tummy!" In the time it took me to write one email, Elle managed to eat over half of a stick of butter! Just goes to show you how quickly this little super-villain can get into trouble. She got a short lecture and a minute in time-out. The world is safe and free from her chaos again...at least for now.

All grown up

Last night I found a bargain at Target. For $8 you can get a second rod for the closet that hangs below your clothes rod. It is supposed to give you twice the hanging room in your closet, but it also means that Morgan can reach her own shirts and get dressed all by herself now. I hung it up this morning and moved all of her shirts down. She not only dressed herself, in a coordinating outfit nonetheless, but she also dressed Elle - who is not so coordinating!

Later, Morgan was sitting on the floor by the piano hard at work with something in her lap. A few minutes later she jumps up and runs over to me, face beaming! "Mom! Look! I tied Daddy's shoes!" Oh, how fast they grow up!

Art Progression

Morgan's stick figure people now wear clothes! I think they are so awesome, I thought I would post her latest masterpiece. (It's a picture of me- in case you can't tell!)

The 4th

Lisa came up to stay with us for the 4th. We LOVED having her here. We are so grateful to Dustin for taking Taylor all weekend so we could steal his wife! I miss her so much now that she is gone. Weekends never last long enough. Anyway, we did the kids' fireworks at about 7:30pm. Miles was buckled into the wagon so he could see the fireworks but not get the fireworks. The girlies did sparklers together and Morgan held one hand over her ear and kept the other arm straight out in front of her. She was a little wary of the sparkler, which turned out to be well founded. As soon as Elle's sparkler went out, we all hear Troy yell, "Elle, don't touch that!" followed by a earth shattering scream that seemed to drown out even the noise of other fireworks. Elle was wondering why her sparkler stopped working and decided it would be best to grab it with her other hand. She formed immediate blisters on her thumb and finger. After about 10 minutes she calmed back down and very much enjoyed the rest of the firework display put on by Daddy and Uncle Troy.
We did the bigger fireworks after the kids went to bed, since it doesn't even start to get dark until 9:30 or so. They were awesome and I think everybody had a good time!
